Page's Story

We were thinking about getting a dog for quite some time, but we were not convinced, that with our live style, we would be able to accommodate new addition to our family. One day I run to good friend of mine. In casual conversation, I came to know about Iwona's effort to save dogs destined to be killed. Iwona's story broke my heart. Few days later, we were in the car, driving to meet her, and dogs she had for adoption. I had no idea if we will have a passenger on the back sit on the way home. Once there, we didn't wait long for a sign from one of Iwona's k9 friends. Page, as she was called, came to greed us, her piercing eyes where asking to take her with us. While there, she followed us around and didn't leave our sight in hope that she will be the one. She sensed that we would never hurt her in anyway. We fell in love with her as she did with us. Once in the car her eyes lit up, all the way home she was very quiet, in her doggy soul trying to be invisible. First week was tense. Page was not sure if she is going to stay and was watching us and learning about us, trying to be most pleasing and staying out of trouble. In the same time we were trying to learn about her and encourage her to be herself. After five days she opened up and started to act relaxed and reassured. Our instinct didn't fail us. Page is the best dog ever. She is smart and loving. There is great mutual trust between us. She walks without the leash glancing at us from time to time, trying to gage our level of happiness.

We love her immensely. She is a best gift ever gotten. Thank you Iwona!

Riley's Story

"My husband and I were not really looking to find a dog when I came across Riley. We had lost one of our Rottweilers to degenerative myelopathy, and 2 of my cats not to long before of old age. We agreed that there would be no more pets for us. When our Tia passes, that would be it! No more heartbreak. I found myself going to pages of rescue sites looking at all the dogs with no homes. Well, I have to tell you the heartbreak from seeing those beautiful animals in cages was almost as painful to see. I had seen so many homeless dogs, and then I saw RILEY! There was a connection instantly! I had to have him. Those eyes were talking to me. He is a beautiful soul! Gentle, loving, why would someone just discard this beautiful animal? I had to make him mine. I know he loves it here and if he could talk, he would say, THANK YOU.

Loui's Story

Loui is doing GREAT. Really playful, learns faster than lightning, and sweeeet – loves to cuddle and to be scratched. Took him up north this weekend to a household that has 2 small dogs a pug and a russell terrier and they all got along like a house on fire - played and caroused for hours at a time . Everyone - dogs and people were really impressed with "the boy". So all's great.

Loui is marvelous – cute as a button , happy and learning fast. We're both going to school starting in January; although I'm managing quite well when it comes to teaching him stuff. He knows how to sit and stay how to sit at a curb without any prompting, how to wait for his food until told to get his meal and is beginning to listen to me in the park- comes when called about 50 % of the time . He's very popular with other dogs because he loves to play. So all's good.

Brandon's Story

"Brandon is such a gorgeous dog. We thank you so much Iwona. He is settling in so well and he never leaves my side. He is slowly coming around with Brian. It will probably take a bit more time for him to trust. You are doing an amazing thing with these animals. Take care and we will talk soon."

Willow's Story

Originally, Willow was a dog that was going to be euthanized at a St. Adele pound in Quebec after only three days. We found Willow through another rescue. We were almost too late when we were on our way to St. Adele and found out in a last ditch effort to save this beautiful dog, she as well as another dog had been moved to Iwona's kennel. This was awesome news! We were put in contact with Iwona and went to Iwona's kennel as soon as we could. We got there and our dogs met and all things looked like they were going to work out well. We did end up taking Willow home with us and things worked better than we thought they were going to. Willow was also great with our two cats. Even after we were told she would not be good with cats by another rescue, but not by Iwona. Iwona was willing to let us try things out. We are very glad she did.

Willow is very loving and affectionate, she loves playing for hours with our German Shepherd. She can pick up on commands quickly and takes direction well. Willow loves going for a walk on our large property, but still pulls on us a little too much. She is a work in progress! We still don't understand how a beautiful dog like this or any dog could be slated for euthinization after only three days in a pound. We are so glad to have had a chance to save Willow and am glad she is working so well in our pack.

Bella's Story

Just to let everyone know Bella AKA Stella is doing amazing! She is getting a lot more comfortable with us and our dog Fox. They are most definitely on the road to being best friends and she has already won our hearts. We honestly could not have got a better match with Stella. She fits our family like a glove and is responding better to Stella her new name, then Bella She is still loving the outdoors! Both dogs cant get enough of our yard and the runs in the fields. The only complaint we have is there is absolutely NO room left on our king size bed.... :)

Murphy's Story

Attached a few pictures of Murphy. He is an unbelievable well behaved lovable dog. He fit into the family and has complete freedom in the whole house and has not done any damage and gets along with our 2 cats. He loves to go for a walk and gets 2 a day as well as complete freedom in his fenced backyard and deck. Thank you again for saving Murphy and allowing us to bring him into our home.

Diesel's Story

Hi Iwona, We would like to let you know that Diesel is adjusting well to our home. He is such a wonderful boy! We have had him to our vet. She says that he is very healthy and his kennel cough is gone. He gets along very well with our dog Bo and is really fitting in. We would like to thank you so much for the opportunity to have him join our family. We have attached a picture of Diesel with our girl Bo. Elsa's Story

Hi Iwona, Thought I'd send you some pics and an update on Elsa aka Ellie and her first few days. She has been a sweet little thing to have around and is always up for an adventure. She is trying to learn new things including how to manage going up and down stairs. While outside I keep a rope on her, but so far she has done a good job at sticking close. When indoors she is always close to someone's side. She is still unsure about the horse and cows, but enjoys watching them from a distance. I love her to bits can't imagine not having her around.
